American Masters Concert
Dr. Jonathan Talberg will conduct the premiere vocal ensemble on of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music of CSU Long Beach on the Carpenter Center stage in a Tuesday evening concert to highlight choral masterworks by 20th-century American composers. The set will include Los Angeles-based composer Morten Lauridsen’s “Les Chanson des Roses” (“Rose Songs”) song cycle set to the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, as well as works by Moses Hogan and Dominick Argento.
Under Talberg’s direction, The Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Choir has toured throughout California and Europe, and in China. Most recently, Talberg led the Chamber Choir on a 14-day tour of Italy last summer in their performances of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and other European and American repertoire. The tour included a private concert inside the Sistine Chapel.
